KEY COLONY BEACH FISHING AND BOATING CLUB

ARTICLE I – NAME

I-1. The name of this organization will be the Key Colony Beach Fishing and Boating Club.

ARTICLE II – PURPOSE

II-1. The purpose of the club will be to provide boating, fishing, and good fellowship among members.

ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP

III-1. The number of active members will be decided upon by the executive committee.

III-2. Every member will have equal rights to nominate candidates, to hold office, to vote in elections, to attend meetings, and to participate in voting on pertinent matters.

III-3. Sponsor memberships will be offered gratuitously to entities deemed worthy by the executive committee at two memberships per sponsor.

III-4. In the event of a waiting list, membership will be granted on a priority basis as follows:

A. Spouses of current members.

B. Residents and/or property owners of Key Colony Beach.

C. All others.

III-5. Tournament cheating will result in immediate expulsion from the club and forfeiture of all winnings on record.

III-6. Any club member that hires, contracts, or engages professional charter captains, guides or charter boats in an effort to enter a winning fish will be disqualified from the tournament.

III-7. Our Club offers local tournaments. Participating angler catch entries must come from local waters which the Club designates as 25 mile radius from the official weigh in station (i.e. Captain Hooks). No fish out of season may be harvested and entered.

ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS AND DUTIES

IV-1. The officers of the club will be: Commodore, Vice Commodore, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Tournament Director, Director at Large, Directors of Fundraising and Previous Commodore.

IV-2. Officers will be elected by a majority vote at the annual April meeting to hold office effective November 1st for a term of two years.

IV-3. Duties of the officers:

A. COMMODORE – Will administer all affairs and execute all policies of the club.

B. VICE-COMMODORE – Will assist the Commodore in the discharge of his duties and in his absence act as Commodore.

C. RECORDING SECRETARY – Will record minutes of the meeting and work closely with the Membership Secretary.

D. TREASURER – Will maintain and account for all club funds, to write and/or co-sign checks with the Commodore, Vice-Commodore and/or Secretary, and report financial status to the executive committee and general membership meetings.

E. MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY – Will maintain a current roll of the membership, send notices of the meetings to all members and work closely with Recording Secretary.

F. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR – Will coordinate members in friendly competition for various species of membership approved game fish and present awards to monthly and annual winners.

G. DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE – Will assist the Commodore in various duties including: Clambake, Special Dinners, KCB Day and other events.

H. DIRECTOR OF FUNDRAISING – Will sell 50/50 at meetings and events, and procure give-away gifts from area businesses and merchants.

ARTICLE V - MEETINGS

V-1. General meetings will be held a minimum of four times per year at the discretion of the executive committee.

V-2. Meetings of the executive committee, when needed, will be called by the Commodore.

V-3. Thirty members will constitute a quorum at the general meetings for the transaction of the club business.

ARTICLE VI – COMMITTEES

VI-1. Executive Committee: Will consist of the Commodore, Vice Commodore, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Tournament Director, Director-at-Large, Director of Fundraising, and previous Commodore.

VI-2. Membership Committee: Will consist of a chairman and two members, who will be responsible for all matters relating to membership applications, and to assist the Membership Secretary in maintaining membership records.

VI-3. Cruise committee: Will consist of a chairman and two members to be appointed by the executive committee. Duties will be to organize fishing tournaments, club cruisers, awards dinners, and other matters pertaining to club entertainment activities.

VI-4. Nominating Committee: Will consist of a chairman and two members. Duties will be to recommend to the executive committee, a list of candidates to fill all offices. In addition, members may offer nominations from the floor.

ARTICLE VII – DUES

VII-1. The amount of dues will be established by the executive committee.

VII-2. All dues will be paid by the January meeting of each year.

ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS

VIII-1. The By-Laws may be amended at a general meeting by a two-thirds vote, providing that the notice of the proposed change is given to all members prior to the meeting and a quorum is present.

ARTICLE IX

IX-1. Rules contained in “Roberts Rules of Order” will govern the club in all cases to which they are applicable.
